A Memorable Visit from Fr. Pedro Javier

Updated: Dec 22, 2024

Last Tuesday was an extraordinary day at Shoreless Lake School, as we had the honor of welcoming Fr. Pedro Javier Moya, the president of our school, all the way from Spain.

Accompanied by Fr. Jared Hood, the secretary of the Society of Jesus Christ the Priest and Fr. Pedro Javier’s trusted right-hand man, it was a day filled with inspiration, reflection, and warmth.

Fr. Pedro Javier’s visit began with a beautiful and heartfelt blessing of the school. His words were a reminder of the mission Fr. Alfonso, the founder, dreamed of for our school. Fr. Pedro Javier took his time observing art projects, architectural details and technology as he blessed each room of the school.

At one point of the tour, a group of talented students had the chance to perform for Fr. Pedro Javier. Anne, a gifted pianist, played a moving piece, while Clara, an accomplished violinist, added her melody to create a magical atmosphere.

After the tour, Fr. Pedro Javier gathered with the students for a Q&A session. One student asked him, "What is the most important thing Fr. Alfonso taught you?" With deep sincerity, Fr. Pedro Javier responded, “Everything...but most importantly, to love the Lord.” His answer was a reminder of the core values that continue to shape our school community — love, faith, and devotion to God.

The morning concluded with a special meeting between Fr. Pedro Javier and our dedicated teachers. In this brief yet meaningful session, he expressed his gratitude for their unwavering commitment to the students and the school. He also praised the remarkable work that went into the renovation of the school building, a testament to the school's continued growth and the support of its community.

Before his departure, the students presented Fr. Pedro Javier with several endearing gifts, a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for his leadership and presence. It was a day that left a lasting impression on all of us, a reminder of our shared mission: to lead each student to a deeper love for Christ.
